UC Santa Barbara’s Summer Music Festival!

UCSB Summer Music Festival

I’m excited to be participating again this year in the UCSB Summer Music Festival! There are various events and concerts that run from Thursday, August 17th through Saturday, August 19th. On Thursday at 7:30 I’ll be performing in the Music Department Showcase in Geiringer Hall. Admission is free!

3:30 – 4:30 p.m. | UCSB Art, Design & Architecture Museum
LA-based composer and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Tholl and his friends present a concert of experimental, improvised music.
5:30 – 6:30 p.m. | Old Little Theater, UCSB College of Creative Studies
Santa Barbara-based Dannsair presents an invigorating concert combining jazz, classical, and traditional Irish music.
7:30 – 9 p.m. | Karl Geiringer Hall, UCSB Music Building
Music Department Showcase, featuring performances by UCSB graduate and alumni music students, and world premieres of new works by graduate composers Rodney DuPlessis, Scott Perry, and Heena Yoon, as well as the West Coast premiere of a piece by Nick Norton.

Violist and UCSB Alumnus Jonathan Morgan presents a program of music for unaccompanied viola, viola and piano, and viola and electronics.
5:30 – 6:30 p.m. | UCSB Multicultural Center Theater
UCSB affiliate Ziyad Marcus and the Sfinks present a concert of Middle Eastern Music. Featuring Ziyad Marcus (oud), Daniel Moltke (violin), Sam Khattar (drum and vocals), Scott Marcus (nay and vocals), and Jim Grippo (qanun and vocals).
7:30 – 9 p.m. | Karl Geiringer Hall, UCSB Music Building
World class LA-based ensemble APERTURE DUO performs works for violin / viola duet, including world premieres of new works by graduate composers Marc Evans, Federico Llach, and Mason Hock.
